Zencare Practice Management's Client Medications tool allows practitioners to record and track their clients' current prescriptions as well as medication history.
How to Add a Prescription
To add a prescription, head to the Client profile and under the Contact & Clinical tab select the Medications section. Next, select the Add button at the bottom right of the screen.
Fill in all the relevant details, such as the Name, Start Date, End Date Dose, Frequency, and Prescribing Doctor. Finally, when finished select the Save button.
The Name dropdown includes a list of medications belonging to the following Categories:
- Antipsychotic
- Antimanic
- Antidepressant
- Anti-anxiety
- ADHD
- Other
You can type in the medication's name in the Name text box to quickly locate it within the existing list or select the down arrow key to open up the drop down box. The options show both the trade name and the generic name. The trade name is always shown first with the generic name shown in [parenthesis]. Selecting the name of the medication will also prefill the Category text box with the correct category the medication belongs in.
If the medication you would like to track is not included within the existing list, you may also type in the medication's name in the Name text box, then select the Create option to add it in.
Creating an option that is not on the list will place the medication in an Other category.
Once the name of the medication has been selected or created, you can then fill in the additional fields:
Start Date: This is the date the client started taking this medication.
End Date: The end date (if applicable, this field can be left blank) for the period in which the client was taking this medication.
Note: By entering an end date in the past, the medication will appear in the Medication History section.
Comments: This is an open field where you can add comments that may be relevant to this prescription.
Dosage: This is an open field where both letters and numbers can be added. Be sure to include the unit of measurement for the dose.
Frequency: This is an open field in which both letters and numbers can be added to ensure this information is clear.
Prescribing Doctor: A place to track the name of the medical professional who prescribed this medication. You can also add this person as a Contact under the Circle of Care if you would like to store more detailed contact information about them.
